Famous film critic, editor and a journalist Nadella Nanda Gopal passed away. The 84-year-old film celebrity had been critically ill for the past few days. Today, he was found dead in his sleep, around 12: 45 pm. Nandagopal Nadella is survived with his wife Kalpana Devi and three children, Nadella Gopichand, Nadella Pratyagatma and Koduru Kavitha.
Nanda Gopal Nadella was born in 1934 in Repalle. Nanda Gopal has received 1st prize in a competition held by the Director Gopichand on his 'Perantalu' movie, at the age of 18. He was involved in film journalism workshops, and was associated with LV. Prasad, B. Nagi Reddy, and Aluri Chakrapani. He was even closely associated with N.T.R during his political and film phase, where Nandagopal used to be beside him all the time.
He worked as CBFC Regional Advisory Council Member between 1978-85 and he took the responsibility of 'Telugu Velugu', the official magazine of AP Information & Broadcasting department as the first editor between 1985-87. Nanda Gopal was honoured by AP Govt's Nandi Puraskar in 1995 as best Film Critic. Telugu film journalists have also felicitated him recently honouring his services.
Nandagopal Nadella received the National Award for Best Book on Cinema in 2013 for his book, 'Cinema Ga Cinema'. He had also won the Nandi Award for Best Book on Telugu Cinema. Some of his awards and honors are:

- 2007 Twin Cities Telugu Cinema Diamond Jubilee Felicitation
- 2013 Senior Film Journalist Award - South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce
Tollywood personalities conveyed deep condolences to his family members. The cremation will be held tomorrow, at 12 pm on 23rd June at Mahaprasthanam. May his soul rest in peace!
