Journalist turned film director B. Jaya passed away on Thursday (30 August 2018) night. The renowned filmmaker who has been suffering from a prolonged illness died due to a cardiac arrest. She was battling with health problems for a long time and had breathed her last a few hours ago. She was one of the very few successful lady filmmakers in Telugu film industry. Her husband B.A. Raju is a popular film journalist and a senior PRO in Tollywood with over thousand movies to his credit.
Jaya did her MA English through Chennai University and MA Psychology with Annamalai University. She began her career as a journalist and wrote columns for popular Telugu daily Andhra Jyothy. She had a passion for filmmaking and made debut as a director with 'Chantigadu' in 2003. B Jaya went on to direct notable movies like 'Gundammagari Manavadu', 'Premikulu' and 'Lovely'. Her last film, a romantic entertainer titled 'Vaisakham', released last year.
During her tenure as her director, Jaya introduced many new faces to Tollywood like Suhasini, Shanvi Srivastava, and many others. Earlier this year the dynamic director was honoured with the IWDA award on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Several Tollywood celebrities took to Twitter to express their condolences.
